You don’t need any special skills, experience, or talents to become a local host on HelloCity, but there are many things you can do to improve your chances of connecting with more guests and receiving high ratings. Here’s a list of 10 tips that will help you become an amazing local host:

Create an enticing booking page: After setting up your profile with a great feature photo, create your host booking page. Use this space to detail what guests can expect when exploring a city with you. Add high-quality photos to your gallery, craft a catchy title/motto, and write a compelling description that highlights unique experiences, hidden gems, or budget-friendly tips. Make your listing stand out!

Make it easy for people to recognize you: A friendly, clear profile picture makes a great first impression. Upload a photo of just yourself, from the shoulders up, without sunglasses or pets—and don’t forget to smile! This will attract more people to your listing.

Boost Your Listing: While listing your services on HelloCity is free, boosting your listing can help you get more traffic and bookings. Visit the "My Listings" tab and click the boost option to enhance visibility.

Share Your Listing on Social Media: Whether you have 10 or 10,000 followers, promoting your listing on social media can increase bookings. Let your network know about your services and encourage them to spread the word.

Mark HelloCity emails as Important: When a guest sends you a booking request, HelloCity will notify you via email. To ensure you never miss a request, mark emails from HelloCity as "Important" in your inbox and respond promptly.

Get to know your guest: Understanding your guest's expectations helps create a memorable experience. Read their profile and interests before your meetup so you can tailor the experience to their preferences.

Create a game plan: While HelloCity meetups are not scripted, having a basic plan in place helps things run smoothly. Discuss itinerary details in advance, including duration, locations, and meeting points. Be upfront about any additional costs such as transportation or entrance fees.

Communicate on HelloCity: Always use HelloCity's messaging system for communication. This keeps a record of interactions and helps resolve any potential disputes.

Keep it classy: Be professional, punctual, and prepared for your meetup. If you’re running late, notify your guest immediately. Keep your phone charged and accessible throughout the day.

Get Verified: Travelers often prefer to book only verified locals. A verification badge boosts credibility and can lead to up to 10x more booking requests. Click the "My Verifications" tab to complete your verification process.
